Birdie

FEMALE | BORN SEPTEMBER 2023 | SHIH TZU X

LOCATED IN AUCKLAND

Hi, I’m Birdie. I’m a very affectionate and adventurous almost 1-year-old Shih Tzu cross, living with my foster family in Auckland.

My foster mum says I have an “adorable ewok face” and I’m “simply a delight to have around.”

Yep, she’s really got a soft spot for the new girl on the block.

She’s not overly happy about the fact I wake her up at dawn though!

What can I say? I’m excited to get the day started.

When she opens my crate door, I’m learning to stay and wait patiently.

We’re doing lots of training so I can be the most well-behaved girl in my future new home.

Currently, I’m learning all my basic commands, and how to politely greet my fellow doggies.

My foster mum says I pick up things very quickly.

I’m very much a social butterfly with the canines.

I live 2 other doggies, Olive and Kina and we get along great!

And the cat I live with, well, I follow him everywhere – trying to engage him in play!

Oh, and I LOVE his biscuits. I’ll always try and score myself some.

With some things, I’m very confident and others, I’m quite timid.

You see, I LOVE taking myself for a swim, and I’ll get in the sea, without fear… yet, I’m a little unsure about meeting new people.

And, when I feel a bit nervy, I’ll get my bark on.

I think toddlers can be a little overwhelming, so I’d be happier living with older respectful children.

Once you get to know me, you’ll see how special I truly am.

I absolutely LOVE going on car rides and adventures round the place.

But my greatest passions in life are getting belly rubs and my toys, of course!

It’s true. My toybox gets emptied on a daily basis. I can’t wait to get a toy out to play with.

My foster mum finds them scattered round the house – along with socks that randomly appear.

Life’s all about the fun for me.

My foster mum says she’s loving seeing me come out of my shell – feeling safe and happy.

She says it’s gorgeous the way I bounce around on my short little legs.

So, if you’re looking for a little sweetheart - whose determined to live each day to the fullest – why not consider welcoming ME into your world?

Can't adopt Birdie? You can still help.

Although we charge a small adoption fee, this doesn't generally cover the costs of us getting our dogs ready for adoption. Desexing, grooms, vet care, vaccinations, registration, training and variety of other things can go into these dogs. If you'd like to help either on a one off or regular basis we would be grateful for your donation.
