Yes, we love cats too!
We've been friends with The Pawphanage team for many years and as our values align we thought it was time to share!
The Pawphanage do some amazing work and really care about all the cats & kittens they help, and their matchmaking skills are second to none!
Based in Hamilton, they are worth the drive!
Why adopt from the Pawphanage?
They’re a small team. The people doing adoption appointments also clean the cattery, administer meds, do the admin etc. They spend a lot of time with the residents so they get to know them really well. This means they’re really good at finding the perfect match for your whānau and lifestyle.
The Pawphanage operates on a capacity for care model and they’re not a fan of doing the bare minimum for their residents. This means that they will only take in animals that they have the resources to care for really well during their stay. Every cat adopted frees up space for another cat or kitten in need, and their adoption fee helps pay the bills.
They keep thorough records and are up front about any previous health conditions or illness. They can tell you every single medication that was administered to a cat while in their care and have veterinary clinical histories for all of them. It’s important to them that prospective adoptive parents are fully informed throughout the adoption process and they won’t choose not to disclose something just to get another cat out the door.
Everybody has the same small adoption fee ($200), regardless of their 'cute factor', or what they’ve spent on them. Adopting is much cheaper than getting a free kitten and paying retail veterinary prices for desexing, vaccination, and microchipping yourself.
They’re their safety net. They’ll take back any of our adopted cats for any reason. If your circumstances change and you’re no longer able to care for them, they’re always welcome back.
