Luca

MALE | BORN APPROX JANUARY 2016 | MALTESE

LOCATED IN AUCKLAND

Hi, I’m Luca. I’m the sweetest little 8-year-old male maltese, living with my foster family in Auckland.

My foster mum says I have the biggest heart. She’s sure I’d snuggle all day with her, on the sofa, if I could!

She says I’m like a cross between a cat and a dog. I’m low maintenance, like a kitty, but I need a little more love and affection than your typical feline.

It’s true. I’m just a lovable lad that enjoys following you round, being a part of things.

And I’m always holding out hope for a nice scratch behind the ears… that’s my favourite!

Even though I adore affection, and being near you, I’m not demanding about it.

And, you know what? I don’t even care for toys.

It’s true. A warm lap and a big heart is all you need to make ME happy.

I settle well and sleep soundly in my crate each night.

First thing in the morning though, I’m bursting with happiness to start the day. So much so, I spin in circles!

Then, we head out for our little morning walk together.

I usually only make it a few houses down the street before I slow down and start to lose interest.

See? I’m easy care - happy enough moseying round the garden and cuddling at home.

My foster mum thinks I’d pretty much fit in anywhere!

I would be fine living in a tiny yard or an apartment – and a busy place, with lots of comings and goings, would be fine for me.

I do prefer human company for at least part of the day, so my foster mum brings me to work – and I’m a very good boy there.

She thinks, in my new home, I could easily live as a solo dog or share with others too.

My foster mum says I’m “pretty cruisy” with other canines.

I always make friends when out and about – even with the big dogs.

I currently live with a spoodle. He’s a gentle guy and we get along well.

Guess what? When I first came to live with my foster mum, I was quite underweight, so she’d put me in jackets.

Turns out, I LOVE wearing these!

I also love having baths – those are the ultimate.

I have a little arthritis in my back, so being in the water’s so good for me.

Oh, and how could I forget… I also LOVE food! I’m not a picky eater either.

My foster mum says I haven’t spent much time round children but, meeting the neighbour’s kids, I was fine.

And I haven’t yet been tested round cats.

So, if you have plenty of love in your heart, and a warm lap for me to snuggle up on, I could possibly be the special man for you!

Can't adopt Luca? You can still help.

Although we charge a small adoption fee, this doesn't generally cover the costs of us getting our dogs ready for adoption. Desexing, grooms, vet care, vaccinations, registration, training and variety of other things can go into these dogs. If you'd like to help either on a one off or regular basis we would be grateful for your donation.
